ZEBRA PRINT BEDDING

The bedroom wall that you see in the picture is not the best choice to complement zebra print bedding! Zebra stripes are cool, that goes without saying, but I want you to study the photo carefully and then close your eyes and imagine it beside a queen size zebra bedding set.

That is the best example ever of a decorating faux pas where too much of a good thing is in evidence. The most stunning set of green, purple, hot pink or blue zebra print comforter set would be totally eclipsed by large zebra stripes painted on the walls.

If you must have an accent wall in your bedroom, consider painting it in a funky, bright color that will make your bedding set stand out rather than battle with the zebra print bedding for attention.

It's obvious that the bold size of those stripes in the wall painting technique would completely overcome the teen girls bedding and the entire bedroom would be the ultimate loser.

BLACK and WHITE ZEBRA STRIPE BEDDING

Black and white zebra stripe bedding has ruled the roost in lots of my teen girls' bedroom decorating projects in years past and nobody could be happier about this than yours truly. I have blogged on and on about how easy black and white comforters (in all patterns, not just zebra print) make a decorator's job.

Monochromatic comforters is without a doubt the way to go for simplicity. All you (read: I the long suffering decorator) have to do to personalize the bedroom is pop in some funky accent colors and hang some artwork on the walls that is indicative of the young girl's taste in music, sports, clothes and shoes. The beauty of zebra bedding is that it's only on the rarest of occasions that the colors and/or patterns are in danger of clashing. That may not seem like much to you but do you know how many hours upon hours I spend trying to coordinate this stuff?

I'm taking time out of my holiday week (yeah, I'm resting up before the Christmas rush to pick out new comforters for my clients and decorate several master as well as teen girls' bedrooms for company) to say that my life may be getting more complex. To clarify, I have had a few preteens (or tweens as they are affectionately referred to these days) ask me about PINK zebra stripe comforters! I ask you, does this mean that I must say goodbye to the oh so versatile black and white zebra stripe bedding that has been so good to me? Is black and white girls bedding about to become a fond memory?

PINK ZEBRA BEDROOM DECOR

There's a girl who needs some help choosing pink zebra bedroom decor. Seriously, this teen girl has come up with more pink zebra bedding sets than I've seen in one place...ever!

In fact, she found so many collections that she can't make a decision. She likes the shade of pink in one, the subtlety of the zebra print in another and in a third...well, I can't remember what it was she found appealing in that one. It may have been the tufted, hot pink velvet headboard.

Oddly enough, I think she's going for my least favorite; the zebra print bedding set that had a very girly shade of pink because it is a full size bed in a bag set that comes with everything (except curtains, I didn't see anything mentioned about window treatments) and the other collections had fewer accessories.

I suppose the lighter pink color would be more suited for a girl of her age, but I fell in love with the hot pink zebra bedroom decor...does that make me old because I like teen girls bedding in bold pink rather than pastel?

What do you guys think about these sheer zebra curtains? I love the hot pink zebra bedding set and the funky bookcase headboard of the bed...but those curtain panels just don't fit with the decor in the rest of the room.

This is perhaps a perfect example of too much zebra print in a teen girl's bedroom. Maybe if they lost the scarf drape over the curtain rod and did something in white faux fur or made some cool tie backs rather than have them just hanging there like that then that would tie things together? I'm really not sure that would do the trick. Replacing the sheer zebra curtains with beaded curtains was mentioned and I kind of like that idea with this teen girls bedding set. What would you do? Would you keep the scarf or lose it and add accessories to bring the zebra print curtain panels more into line with the comforter set?

Still working on the teenage girl's bedroom I blogged about yesterday. Now zebra bedroom wall decorations are on my "to do" list and as luck would have the decorating budget is getting too tight to afford expensive pictures or even large, framed posters.

I thought of these painted canvases with a zebra print background with a large, hot pink peace sign in the middle that I have had my eye on for awhile. They would not work in a zebra theme bedroom where the bedding set primarily consists of zebra print fabric but in this room where the comforter is solid black and only the sheets have a zebra pattern these will be fantastic. If the painting is the right size it may be all the zebra bedroom wall decorations I need for this teen girls bedroom! Hopefully, the black velvet bedding set is going to turn out to be acceptable teenage girls bedding and my bedroom decorating ideas will have saved the day!

BLACK and WHITE TEEN BEDROOM IDEA

zebra print flannel sheets fitted flat black and white

A dud of a bedding set gave me the inspiration for a black and white bedroom idea. A teenage girl I know was in despair because she didn't get the zebra bedding set that she wanted as a gift. Apparently her grandmother heard "black velvet" and completely blocked out the zebra print part of the description her granddaughter gave of the comforter set that she wanted.

With no receipt and no hope of returning the unwanted set, a set of zebra print flannel sheets saved the day. That's absolutely correct! For less than $20 we gave that black velvet bedding set a personality that a teen girl can relate to!
You don't even need to ask whether the mom of the house approved of my
black and white teen bedroom idea, do you? Oh, and for what it's worth if we had gone with plain cotton sheets rather than flannel the transformation would have been even less expensive!
