TRENDY PLATFORM BED - COOL BED FOR TEENS BEDROOMS

GO HERE FOR MORE!

I usually lean towards platform beds for teens bedrooms because of the drawers underneath the mattress that offers storage. As well all know, teen girls have lots of stuff that needs to be packed somewhere and closet organization is usually not their strong point.

Plain wooden platform beds work just fine so long as the construction is solid. They are so easy to build that your teen could put it together with the help of a couple of her girlfriends on site in the dorm room or at home. The simple instructions for how to make a platform bed frame are included with the kit and are pretty self explanatory.

This platform bed doesn't have a drawer, but the contemporary design is just too cool to look over in your search for the perfect match for your teen's modern bedding set. Tuck in a solid cover (black maybe?) comforter, quilt or duvet cover under the mattress to let the metallic platform bed frame shine. Add some satin or velvet pillows and pillow shams and a flokati or faux fur area rug for the girls to lounge on and chat and you've got a modern platform bed with a cool look for a very cheap price!

While I mentioned a solid color black or dark color bedspread, that's just if you happen to have one on hand and are trying to decorate your teen's bedroom or dorm room with items you picked up for an inexpensive or discounted price, you are not limited to solid colors! Funky teen bedding with geometric designs, bold stripes or even fun bedding with large polka dots could all work with this particular metallic platform bed. I like the black and white bedding and comforters for teen girls bedrooms or maybe something in dark gray family because of the brushed silver metal on the bed frame. Royal purple would look fabulous in the room with the gray metal of the bed. In fact, something deep purple might be the best color to use! I'll see if I can locate some for you!

You will be amazed at what a delightful set of pink and green bedding in bright spring-like colors and soft cuddly fabrics can do for an otherwise bland and boring teenage girls bedroom. Pretty green and pink bedding and bed in a bag sets is just one of many of the cool bedding sets for teens and tweens with multi-color stripes and polka dots on the teenage bedroom decorating scene today.

Whimsical polka dots on the top of the coverlets, sheets and comforters that resemble Lifesavers with a hollow center or solid dots and the design is repeated on the window valance. Yes indeed, spring is the very best time for inspiring teenage girl bedroom decorating ideas and for bedding sets in cotton candy colors offer a viritual dish of sweet delights for the rooms of teens and tweens in your home.

Let's see what decorating ideas for teens we can get from the pictures of the teens bedroom using this bedding collection. It's always hard to pick the best colors to paint the walls from photographs, but it seems that the decorator considered antique white or ivory not to be the best choice. The color that was used to paint the walls and the teen girl's simple small scale bedroom furniture seems to be a creamy yellow. The table lamp and rectangle area rug on the hardwood flooring are a creamy yellow tone as well. The only other area in the decorated room where the print from the bedding set is displayed appears to be the window treatments.

If the idea of repeating the designs of the pink and green polka dot bedding all over the room isn't appealing, consider mixing it up a bit with striped window panels or tab top valances with stripes of coordinating colors. Here's a decorating tip from the professionals; curtains with stripes have the ability to make a room with low or average ceiling height seem taller and therefore more spacious.

When decorating a preteen girl's small bedroom you need all the decorating tips and tricks in the book box to make a small room seem larger, taller and more roomy. Everything you use in the project needs to be scaled down a size or two. Even the polka dots on the pink and green bedding should be according to scale.

The bed, chairs and every other piece of furniture that you use in the room should be smaller in scale than your average run of the mill furnishings. The bedroom's decorations should be chosen to give the illusion of space as well. The star of the teenager's bedroom should be the funky teenage girl's pink and green bedding set with polka dots. But the layout of the room is about scale and the visuals of your completed bedroom decorating project.

Another decorating tip that I'd like to share that will give your teenage girl's bedroom texture without filling it with clutter is to bring in a variety of fabrics. In addition to your cotton pink and green bedding toss in some accent pillows in soft velour or velvet. The decorative accent pillows can pick up the various shades of pink and green from the hard candy and striped print of the bedding fabrics and curtains and add a whole new dimension to the tactile experience and make the room so cozy and comfortable.

The smaller sizes of rooms in modern homes make learning to decorate a teen girl's bedroom or any room of the home with appropriately scaled decorations very important. Cute pictures of teen's bedrooms like this one teach a valuable lesson in decorating so study all the details and have fun!

Do the pink and green polka dots bedding and striped sheets in the pictures of this bright and colorful teen bedding set remind you of the sprinkles on top of an ice cream cone? What a perfect set of bedding for a tween or teen girl's bedroom; one that makes you remember happy days sitting at a little bistro licking the colored candy off the top of a couple of scoops of ice cream.

The walls in the photo are painted lime green which is the best color to use as a background for the whimsical pink and green polka dot print quilted comforter. The decorator chose different shades of pink for the accessories. And didn't she choose just the best accessories? A pale pastel pink princess phone right out of the 60s sits beside a modern, chrome base teen perfect table lamp with a hot pink faux fur lampshade! Don't you adore all those big, fluffy pom poms on the round pink area rug? The flip flops might indicate that this teenage girl just came in from the beach!

A simple white cotton bedskirt makes quick work of decorating this bed that would be just right for a small bedroom or a cramped dorm room. A vintage ice cream shop table and chairs that have been painted white with pink and green accents would make a perfect study nook if there's enough floor space to pull it off.

A chain lamp hung over the center of the table top would make excellent task lighting over a teen's books. Light fixtures hung from the ceiling offer lighting for a specific area of the room without eating up valuable floor space. When square footage is scarce and there's no room for floor lamps or more table lamps, mount a molly hook on the ceiling, hang your teen's lamp so her eyes won't hurt from long hours of hitting the books!

EXOTIC TEEN MOROCCAN BEDROOM DECORATING IDEAS

If there's one thing that I keep going back to when designing teen girl's bedrooms it's the sumptious look of moroccan decor. The vivid colors, beads and sheer fabrics bring loads of funky teen girl bedroom decorating ideas to mind! The cool thing about the multi-colored decorations are that they are cheap! Carved wooden headboards full of hand carved mysteries imported from far away locations like Zanzibar and Mozambique are very inexpensive.

The color of the fabric draped over the tall headboard with the canopy rails attached is a color I can only define as electric lavender. The shade is not deep and dark enough to be called grape or purple but much to exciting and "in your face" to be called lavender. Note how colors from the intricately patterned coverlet have been both repeated in the neckroll pillows and accented with the coral pink, lipstick pink and electric lavender pillow. The mint green silk pillow and the blue background of the bedspread provide the cool colors to balance the hot pinks and corals.

If lots of color doesn't fit your decorating ideas for tweens and teens, harem style decor is not for you! I would encourage you to give it a try before you discount the reaction of your teenager and her friends when they see a bedroom completely decorated in this style.

TEEN BEDROOM - COOL, TRANQUIL, SERENE and MATURE!

The teen bedding and bedroom design in this picture is so simple and yet so tranquil and serene. This style of décor is for the young tween or teen that is sure of herself and has no need for the trendy, funky trappings of her more immature friends.

The color scheme for the room will be easy to duplicate for your teenage girl.
  • The walls are painted sage green
  • The crown moldings, chair rails are painted white as well as the plantation shutters (white wood or faux wooden blinds with two inch wide slats and matching white cloth tape will be a less expensive option)

  • The inspirational letters, words and sayings stenciled on the teen's bedroom walls are stenciled in a deep shade of peach pink similar to the color of the sheer panels and box pleated bed skirt decorating the black wrought iron canopy over the bed
  • A white button tufted comforter or duvet cover is topped with plaid print accent pillows placed over tailored cheetah print pillow shams
  • The wooden furniture in the room is painted green with accent colors taken from the plaid print on the accent pillows
  • A small black wrought iron lamp duplicates the curved styling of the iron bed and canopy

The charm of this teen bedroom design lies in its simplicity. The easy mix of various shades of only three colors will move the decorating process along very quickly with very few decisions to be made as far as decorative accessories. I love the way they didn’t use additional curtains which would have taken away from the tie top bed canopy. The blinds make the teen girl’s room look so much larger and the canopy draperies stand out.

Well, I loved the cartoon when I was a kid and even had their records like A Chipmunks Christmas and a Country Music one where they sang "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys (Chipmunks)" but I'm a little leery of this live action movie coming out. I was riding in Cameron's car down Maryland Pkwy from UNLV where we had just seen a performance of "As You Like It" which coincidentally starred a boy I had crushed on majorly in high school. We were on our way to get a late night bite to eat at Denny's, it was raining slightly and this guy just totally rear ended us while we were stopped at a light, then put it in reverse and drove off! To our amazement, the jackass' front license plate was stuck to Cam's car!
