HOLIDAY BEDDING - What to Buy and When

It’s so much fun to decorate your entire home for Christmas. Christmas holiday bedding decorating the bedrooms and special guest towels and soaps displayed in the bathrooms really kick off the season in style.

WHEN TO BUY

The time to get the best holiday bedding sets at deep discounts is right after Christmas. The selections might be slightly picked over, but there are still some cute collections to be found if you know where to shop. It takes discipline to spend money on decorations that won’t be used for another year. But the year will pass in a flash and you will be pleasantly rewarded when December rolls around like clockwork and you have a box full of new decorations to use in your holiday decor.

WHAT TO BUY

If you are careful in your selection of holiday bedding, there is no need to pack it away immediately after Christmas. If the comforter set that you purchased is covered in cheerful pictures of Santa Claus and his reindeer, it’s recommended that you will need to pack the collection away with the rest of your Christmas decorations until next December. There’s something unappealing about Santa and his elves hanging around after New Year’s day if you know what I mean. However, there is something just as sad about giving up those soft, snuggly flannel sheets when we still have several months of winter weather coming our way.

The key to holiday bedding that is festive enough to brighten your teenage girl’s bedroom and fill it with cheerful images that reflect the season and still be appropriate long after the stockings have been emptied is to buy holiday bedding sets with winter themes that leave Santa out of the design. For that reason, I recommend snowflake bedding and comforter sets or snowman bedding, comforters and flannel sheet sets with any design that you might associate with winter. Basically, any kind of holiday bedding other than that with pictures of the jolly old elf and friends will be useful for the entire winter season rather than a few weeks.

Unlike other styles of Christmas bedding that’s only good through the holidays,
snowflake bedding
sets will be appropriate and appreciated so long as the cold winds of winter continue to blow. So long as you avoid the colors of red and green that are reflections of the time frame that extends from the day after Thanksgiving to the 25th day of the month of December, your comforter and flannel snowflake bed sheets will serve to give the bedding a ski lodge or log cabin style of bedroom decor.

Trendy eco friendly bedding in soft 100% cotton could be used all year in the mountains where the term snowflake holiday bedding would seem rather unusual as Fair Isle sweaters and jackets are stylish in the spring, winter and fall. The nighttime temperatures at these high altitudes can be chilly even during the summer months making a bed with a set of snowflake bedding and toasty flannel sheets seem rather inviting.

CHRISTMAS SNOWFLAKE BEDDING

Snowflakes are stylish in some areas no matter the season. But in southern climates your friends would think it odd to decorate your bedroom in ice crystals when the mercury in the thermometer is threatening to blow sky high. In warm climates, snowflake comforters are reserved strictly for use during the holidays. At the very most you may see beds made with snowflake duvet covers and sheet sets in the months of December and January.

COLORS

If you are among those who get to enjoy your snowflake bedding set during the Christmas season, red and green will blend your holiday bedroom decorations with those found in the rest of the home. If those colors don’t tickle your teenage girls taste in bedding, blue and white snowflakes with touches of red might get her approval.

MIX and MATCH YOUR HOLIDAY MOTIFS

If the idea of being surrounded by nothing but snowflakes leaves you feeling like you are struggling to survive a blizzard, bring in a snowman or a snow girl or two or some cheerful red birds or cardinals to warm up your Christmas color scheme. Snowflake bedding is very easy to coordinate with various holiday decorations so long as you don’t get too wild with your mixture.

SNOWMAN BEDDING and COMFORTER SETS

Take the nip right out of winter and kick Jack Frost to the curb with snuggly snowman bedding. A cute snowman comforter set or snowman flannel sheets will make your bed even more inviting after a long day playing in the snow.

Tweens and teenage girls who may consider holly green and berry red comforters with Santa Claus and his reindeer galloping across the top too immature for their taste. But snowmen are ageless in their appeal and the blustery sky blue and white backgrounds really make their black top hats, neck scarves and carrot noses pop!

Snowman bedding gives testimony that all snowflakes have to be cold nor must they melt when you bring them inside the family home. For moms who like for all rooms in their house to be decorated for the holidays, we would like to recommend that you set one bedroom aside for Christmas snowman bedding. Or if your teen prefers; snow girls.

DECORATING IDEAS

The comforter or quilt set will set the tone, but I don’t recommend that you leave it to shoulder the load of the holiday bedroom decor all alone. Mr. and Mrs. Frosty the Snowman may need a little assistance in bringing true Christmas spirit into your daughter’s room.

There’s no need to rush out and buy expensive decorations. A snowman glitter lamp and a bedside snowman rug to keep the chilly floor from giving her rosy toes frostbite on cold, winter mornings will do the trick.

If your teenage girls are lucky enough to have an adjoining bathroom, pinch a few collectible snowman figurines from your stash of ornaments to coordinate the bath with your snowman bedding set. Color coordination shouldn’t be a problem. After all how difficult can it be when the primary color in your snowman bedding and comforter set is snowy white?
